Eruzione del vulcano Fuego in Guatemala: evacuati i residenti

GUATEMALA CITY. Il vulcano Fuego ha cominciato ad eruttare roccia incandescente e cenere. Le autorità hanno lanciato l'allerta. Fuego è uno dei vulcani più attivi dell'America centrale e si trova a una cinquantina di chilometri da Città di Guatemala, tra i dipartimenti di Escuintla, Sacatepequez e Chimaltenango. Il vulcano ha un'altezza di 3.763 metri sul livello del mare. È cominciata l'evacuazione dei residenti nella zona circostante al vulcano dopo l'eruzione che ha coperto l'area di roccia incandescente e cenere nel sud del Guatemala: lo ha annunciato il presidente del Paese, Otto Perez, riporta la Bbc online. L'aeroporto internazionale della capitale, Guatemala City, è stato chiuso, ha aggiunto Perez, ma dovrebbe riaprire nel corso della giornata odierna. Il vulcano si trova circa 40 chilometri a sud ovest della capitale. L'eruzione precedente risale al settembre 2012, la più potente dal 1999, quando le autorità evacuarono migliaia di persone.
