Staccando di oltre un secondo la Ferrari di Sebastian Vettel, le Mercedes di Lewis Hamilton e Nico Rosberg dominano la prima sessione di prove libere del Gran premio della Cina di Formula 1 Hamilton ha segnato il miglior tempo in 1'39«033, circa 0,5 secondi più veloce del suo compagno di squadra Rosberg e 1,1 secondi più veloce di Vettel. Quarto tempo per la Ferrari di Kimi Raikkonen, seguita dalla Sauber di Felipe Nasr e dalle Red Bull di Daniel Ricciardo e Daniil Kvyat.
